How To Survive On A Low Income?

When you don't know how you are going to make ends meet

, cut back where ever you can. Here are some creative ideas on cheap living.

Eat Out Less And Cook More

Make all your meals from scratch. You will find that one of the biggest expense in our daily life is eating out. Restaurants and fast foods are expensive and unhealthy. Create a weekly menu and stick to it. Reduce on frozen, junk, microwaveable food etc. Usually these are foods that you can make on your own, which are expensive when store bought. Cook food ahead in big batches and freeze it. You will no longer eat out, and it is convenient when you are too tired to cook for yourself.

Stay Healthy

Eat right and exercise well, staying healthy will save you lots of money on medical bills, doctor visits, etc. There are many ways you can exercise in a frugal way- try walking, jogging, join with your pals for some basket ball or take your dog for a walk in the park. These don't cost anything and will help you stay fit.

Transport

This is another huge expense in our day to day budget. When you don't have to go far try to commute by cycle or walk. Leave a few minutes early so that you can reach on time, save gas and stay in shape.

Cut Down On Sweets, Smoking And Alcohol

This may not be the easiest way to save, but if you do cut down you can save quite a few big bucks. Desserts and sweets give us a lot of unwanted calories with no nutrition. Quitting cigarettes and cutting down on alcohol will mean not just short term savings since they are expensive, but also long term savings as you will cut down on medical problems as well.

Organize Yourself

Easy to say, I know! But if you can organize yourself in simple ways, things will get easier and you can save so much. Try to plan ahead what to cook, where to go, buy only essentials etc. Sometimes we go to the market to buy just a lemon, so try and plan ahead. For example take your own water where ever you go, so that you don't always purchase a can of soda. Take some time off and collect coupons of the items that you buy regularly.

Make Your Own

Don't buy what you can make yourself! It can even be a house cleaner. Try to use lemon, vinegar and baking soda as a homemade cleaner rather than store-bought ones, they work just as good. You can even make your own gifts, decorations, clothes etc. They will help you save a lot of money in the long run.

Don't Shop

Avoid the shopping malls, departmental stores etc. Just go to a store get what you want, and get out. Many people go to malls as a form of entertainment, or go there with a vague idea of what they want, and end up buying much more than they need. Stay away from shopping spots, and find other means of entertainment.

Do It Yourself

Instead of hiring someone to do a service, try doing it yourself. It can be to fix a leaking sink or to make your own kitchen shelf. It's a lot of fun, and the savings are great too. If you don't have an idea how to do it, look up the Internet or read some books and give it a go. Just get creative. Pay all your bills online, this way you needn't commute and you can save on stamps.

Maintain

If you take care of things that you already have, you will save a lot on repair and maintenance. When you buy something new, take a few minutes and read up on how to maintain it. Make sure all your appliances are working properly. For example take your car for regular tune-ups.

Save Energy

Try doing small things like turning off the lights when not in use, using cold water for washing clothes or taking your car out less. These small things will end up as huge savings for you.

Accept the living-on-the-cheap challenge and not only will your bank account reap the benefits, but so will your peace of mind. Because worrying about money just plain sucks!
