Moving house is one of the most stressful things we can do in life

. However by approaching your move logically and planning in advance, you can reduce a lot of the stress usually involved.

The first thing is organising your removal company, you want to do this about a month before you move. Choosing the company you use doesn't have to be difficult, use the internet to find removal company reviews. In order to have the best choice, book your company as early as possible. When deciding on your move date, remember that most company's are busiest at the end of the month and especially on a Friday and over the weekend. Don't be surprised if you are charged a premium for these days.

When you book your removal van, you will also want to contact your utility providers and let them know your move date and new address. If you are taking recommended removal companies services to your new property, ask if they can be sorted for before you move in. The last thing you want is to get to your new property and find the electricity has yet to be put on.

Don't leave packing until the last minute. About a month before you move, start packing the things that you are not going to need, make sure you mark each box so you know exactly where to look for certain things that you will need almost immediately in your new place, for example plates, cups and cutlery.

A couple of weeks before you move start throughly cleaning each room in your home. As the contents of the room is packed, clean and tidy after yourself that way there is less to do on moving day.

It's not surprising that the whole thing can cause our stress levels to soar. What with packing up everything we own, leaving our home and sometimes our family and friends, just to unpack it all again in a new place you could be forgiven for dreading the prospect of a move.
