How To Treatment Male Hair Loss

Hair loss is something most men secretly 'fear' but hope it may never actually occur

. After all, thinning hair and baldness is something that kids use to identify the elderly, despite the fact that the process can begin before 20 years of age! Male hair loss is the most common type of hair loss. It is caused by increased sensitivity to male sex hormones (androgens) in certain parts of the scalp, and is passed on from generation to generation.

For a men hair loss is a common occurrence. And they have been trying out various treatment to reduce hair loss for amount of years. While in years past, men were forced to cover bald spots with toupees or comb-overs, medical science now serves up a number of options that can reverse or counter hair loss. There are drugs that promote hair growth and transplant technologies that enable doctors to recreate a full head of hair.

1. a transplant, where the surgeon moves non-sensitive hairs from the back of the head to the top. This is best for men whose hair loss is limited to the front of the scalp. Factors that determine whether a person is a suitable candidate include age, hair colour, the nature of hair loss, and whether the hair type is straight or curly.

2. Minoxidil (Regaine) is found to be effective in about 25% of men with baldness on the crown. Applied twice a day in a cream the hair growth only occurs as long as it is used. Minoxidil was originally approved to treat high blood pressure. Side effects are unusual but Regaine should not be used by people with a history of heart problems, sudden weight gain, chest pains, fainting, or rapid heartbeat.

3. The "Off Labels" Treatment sometimes Prescribed by Doctor. These treatment described medications that were not FDA approved to treat hair loss, but that are sometimes prescribed by doctor for this purpose. This medications include: Aldactone, Nizoral, Proscar, Avodart, Azlex, Retin-A and Diane-35. This is one of the best hair loss treatment.

4. Propecia has been available since 1997 for treating male pattern baldness, and is the first drug available in pill form. It has proven to be much more effective than Rogaine. Propecia works by blocking an enzyme responsible for the formation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in men. DHT, a byproduct of the male hormone testosterone, is believed to cause hair follicles to shrink and ultimately cease growing. Like Rogaine, Propecia controls hair loss, but does not cure it. There are some potentially serious side effects, however. Propecia can cause impotence, decreased sexual desire, and pain in the testicles.
