, is not difficult. Unlocking cell phones is not something that only experts can do; you can do it too. There are many types of softwares available online that unlock cell phones; but not all of them are reliable. But the recently released Redsn0w 0.9.5 developed by the iPhone Dev team can unlock your iPhone 3G 4.0 without causing any damage or problem.

The Dev team has always provided quality hacks that deliver on what they promise. The latest hack they have released combines iPhone 4 jailbreaking and downgrading baseband to unlock the iPhone 4. It is known as ultrasn0w. The unlock hack exploits a hole in the security of the Safari browser. While this may cause a security problem in the future, it is useful now as it can provide almost unrestricted access to the device. Here is a step by step guide to unlocking your cell phone. But before you start, know that Jailbreaking will void the warranty that Apple has provided for your phone.

Step 1

First, you need to Jailbreak your iPhone 4.0. Make sure you have OS 4.0 installed. If not, then you can search for a leaked 4.0 firmware and download it. Then, download the Redsn0w 0.9.5, and launch. The iPhone1.2_4.0_8A230m_Restore.ipsw file should be selected, and then install Cydia, and then hit next. Use the DFU mode to install the phone jailbreak. When done, the Cydia has a white icon as logo. Then, as Cydia has no sources, add this to sources http://apt.saurik.com/cydia-3.7, after making sure that your phone has a signal. After Cydia comes back on, the logo is displayed and standard source can be used.

Step 2

Now, the iPhone OS 4.0 has an unlockable baseband of 05.10.03. If you downgrade the baseband, then the iPhone can be unlocked. To do this, launch the Cydia and then hit systems under the section header. Select the 3G Fuzzyband Downgrader and install it. After this is done, launch the Fuzzyband Downgrader. The 5.08 bootloader, if your phone has it, will downgrade the baseband to 05.13.01 after you press downgrade. After this is done, an "I Haz Downgrade!" message is displayed, and this part of unlocking your cell phone is complete.

Step 3

Then re-launch Cydia and click on the Manage tab. Hit edit, and then add. Then type in the URL source http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com, and then add source. Then after adding this rep, go to ultrasn0w from Cydia and install the application. Finally, after restarting your iPhone 4, you are done and your cell phone is now unlocked.

While it is possible to unlock the iPhone 3G 4.0 now, it may not be possible in the future. Apple is always on the lookout for loopholes that users can exploit, and every new iPhone comes with a block for that loophole.
