How To Unlock Any Blackberry Torch 9850

The Blackberry Torch 9850 has been on the market as of August 2011 through Sprint and U.S

. Cellular. It can operate on the 2G network (CDMA 800/1900 or GSM 850/900/1800/1900), or on the 3G network (HSDPA 2100 or CDMA2000 1xEV-DO).

A couple of main features on this cell phone are the 5MP digital camera, it's 1.2GHz processor, 4 GB storage (supports up to an additional 32GB using microSD cards), 768 MB RAM, along with the BlackBerry OS 7.

If you bought this cell phone and have decide to switch service provider, or maybe you will be traveling and want to use the phone with another simcard, you will have to unlock the phone. Until you unlock it, an error message will appear on the phone whenever you insert a new simcard.

Below are the instructions you'll need to unlock your Blackberry Torch 9850:

1. Insert a non accepted simcard (a simcard that's not from your original carrier). Power on cell phone.

2) As soon as the cell phone boots up, it will display the message "Your current sim card requires an unlock code. Would you like to unlock it?". Press on "Yes".

3) Enter the unlock code. If you do not have an unlock code, you can buy one at www.cellunlockcode.com

4) The cell phone should say "Code accepted". Your Blackberry is now unlocked.

These are some alternate unlocking instructions if the procedure mentioned above gives you trouble.

1) Input a non recognised sim card into the cellphone (any sim card that isn't from your original phone carrier). Turn on cell phone.

2) Go to Options > Device > Advanced System Settings > Simcard

3) Type in MEPD

4) A Personalization screen will come up, that should display "Sim", "Network", "Network Subset", "Service Provider", "Corporate". On that exact same screen, hold the ALT button and push the buttons MEP2 (as you type, you won't see anything appear on the screen, but simply go on and type it anyway).

5) Phone will say "Enter Network MEP Code"

6) Enter the unlock code.

7) The phone will say "Code accepted". Your Blackberry is now unlocked.

As soon as the cellphone unlock code has been entered and accepted, your phone will be unlocked. You'll be able to pop in a sim card from just about any service provider and the mobile phone should automatically acquire the network. In some instances you might need to modify certain settings on the cell phone ( e-mail along with other internet related services) by way of pointing them to your new carrier.
