How To Use Keyword Phrases In Your Article

Articles are an effective way to get the word out about your website

. A good article with strong content begins to establish trust between you, the author, and the reader. Once that trust has been established the reader is more likely to click on the link to your website and potentially become a buyer. Keywords are the way people search for information. Once you've selected the appropriate keyword phrases, it's important how you use them in the article.

Use the keyword phrase in the title as the first few words of the title. Use it once at the end of the first paragraph and again in the last paragraph. Don't use it more than 4 or 5 times throughout the article. There used to be a rule that a good article, one that shows up on the first page of Google, uses the keyword phrase as a total of at least 10% of the article. That would mean that for a 400 word article, a keyword phrase like "natural dog foods" would be used 13 times. That rule, also known as keyword stuffing isn't relevant any more. In fact some article directories won't accept articles that use the same keyword phrases too many times.

Don't try to use the same article for more than one keyword phrase. Search engines may not care but readers will as it leads to confusion.

Duplicate content penalty is a myth as far as articles are concerned

Google penalizes for duplicate content but not in the way that affects articles. The penalty is for the same, or nearly same content, on a website or blog that is used to manipulate the search engines. The same narrative is used on different pages within a website with the only difference being the keyword phrase.

Duplicate content penalty doesn't apply to articles of blog posts. If it did, newspaper syndication companies, like the Associated Press, wouldn't use it. Article directories and content sites would go out of business.

What this means is that it's acceptable to use the same article in different ways. Post it on your blog or site. Distribute it to article directories. Use it in link networks to point back to your site. And, of course use it in a newsletter or e-mails to your subscribers. Combine the articles into a report or e-book. Use the article on revenue sharing sites like squidoo or busika to earn additional money.
