How To Use Scissors To Cut A Cigar

. One of the most common tools for this process is a pair of cigar scissors. However, unlike using a wide-based Lotus torch lighter to ignite your cigar, using cigar scissors properly takes a bit of expertise to be done correctly. Cigar scissors can be excellent tools for your needs, but they can also result in a damaged cigar that cannot be smoked at all. Using these tools carefully is essential.

First, while you are purchasing all of your cigar accessories, such as that Lotus torch lighter, you should ensure that you are able to purchase a high quality pair of cigar scissors. These should be of surgical stainless steel (440) and should offer a comfortable fit for your hand. Most cigar scissors have wide handles to help you get a better grip. You should also ensure that the scissors are sharp, dull scissors will rip your cigar and render it unusable. However, you will find that you can easily locate a pair of quality cigar scissors with the required level of sharpness.

Now that you have your cigar scissors and your Lotus torch lighter, it's time to set about cutting that cigar. Place your scissors about 1/8th of an inch down the body from the top of the cap (the flat end of the head). Remember, all you need to do is expose the filler, but you do want a clean cut. Ragged edges can lead to tears and uneven cuts can funnel moisture and tar into your mouth in concentration. Therefore, make sure that you have the proper location chosen for your scissors.

Now that you have the location chosen, you must make your cut. Just as with using a guillotine cutter, you should cut swiftly and firmly. If you cut too slowly, even the sharpest pair of scissors can tear the cigar and reduce your enjoyment and even ruin your cigar. Cut cleanly through the entire cigar in a single stroke of the scissors. Once you have ensured that the cut is clean and even, you can use your Lotus torch lighter to toast the foot of the cigar. When the wrapper has been browned a bit, you can set about lighting and smoking your cigar. Do not forget to put away your scissors, as excess moisture can ruin even a high quality pair very quickly.
