How To Use Your Stun Gun-top Eight Tips
Stun guns are nonlethal self defense products that are second only to pepper sprays in terms of world- wide popularity
. They come in a variety of shapes and voltages ranging from 80,000 volts to 4.5 million volts. Some are disguised as cellphone, flashlights and ball point pens.
They have been around since the 1930's but recently have gained in popularity because they are so effective(on average 86 percent).
All self defense products have one goal-get you away from a dangerous situation. In the case of a stun device an assailant can be out of commission for 5-10 minutes.
Here's how to use your stun gun. Knowing how to use anything builds confidence.
1. Read and follow directions carefully.
2. Charge the gun. That may mean putting in batteries or if it is a rechargeable model plug it in to charge.
3. Learn the optimum points for discharge. Nerve centers are best around the upper hip, below the rib cage or the upper shoulders on the right or left side-so six in all.
4. Hold the device against the assailant for at least 3-5 seconds for maximum effectiveness.
5. Learn the legality of stun guns in your state. Check online or with your local police department to make sure they are legal.
6. Learn where the safety switch is. It must be off before it can be fired. There is no charge back to you-so you won't get shocked. Keep fingers and hands away from the two contacts.
7. When you activate the stun gun blue sparks fly and a crackling sound begins. That is normal and is a good warning to potential assailants to not mess with you.
8. Practice using it so when the time comes it will be second nature to you allowing you to react reflexively.
Follow these eight tips and you can use any stun gun there is with confidence.
When are you getting one?
I always advise that if you feel threatened to hold up your stun gun and warn "back off." Sometimes the sounds and flying sparks of a charging stun gun are enough to scare the bad guys away.
If you think crime can only happen to the other guy you are wrong. The "other guy" is thinking the same thing and to him you are that "other guy". There is a reason why they call it self defense. You have to protect yourself, your family, your home and business!!
Chances are if you are reading this that crime has touched your life in some way or you consider yourself at risk. Take the next step and do something to protect yourself! Your life and safety is worth far more than the cost of a personal security device.
