How To Wash Leather Chaps?

They are also of much use to mountaineers as it gives support to their lower body as well comfort. Cowboys wear leather chaps so that their legs are properly protected from cattle and horses. This all shows the importance of leather chaps amongst varying people.

Though how much sexy and stylish leather chaps become but it is certain that they are for the most part worn for practical purposes only. And with serving practical purpose nowadays they are also leading in making style statement at occasions. During all these activities it is quite obvious for an outfit to become dirty and muddy. Leather chaps also suffers through it.

Washing leather chaps can make them look new like before. But at the same time it is also equally important to take care that they do not get fade or get stretched out of shape. Find suitable method of washing that gives them good look but not at the cost of fading color or stretching. Washing leather chaps in the washing machine is the best method to wash them. Below are given instructions how to do so?

First of all discharge hot water in the washing machine till it becomes full at the largest load setting. Then add half a cup of washing powder into it and put your leather chaps in the water and start the wash cycle, but run it for just two minutes.

After that take out leather chap from the machine and wipe with a stain treatment product, like Stain Stick, on the parts it is dirty and all over also.

After wiping put it back in the washing machine and run them through a normal wash.

While giving normal wash fabric softener can also be added to it. It is not mandatory but upto your wish. It is used for making chaps softer but uses the one that is free of dye. It is so because colored softeners change the appearance of leather chaps.

After washing keep leather chap for air drying. Do not put them in sunlight or do not use heater for drying. These both destroy its appearance. Hang them over a cord in a shady area outdoors or inside in a room that gets good air circulation.

After leather chaps are completely dry, soften them in the dryer by running them through on no heat. Just leave them for ten minutes. But do not do this until they are wholly dry, since they can be prone to shrinking.

Washing machine wash is best for leather chaps and make this investment worthwhile. It prevents its shape, gives them new look and above all increases their life span. Even after years you will find your leather chaps looking nice. Wash your leather chaps properly and enjoy their flavor year-round.
