A tool that most MMA fighters that are in the upper echelon know and use is visualization
. Little do some of them even know how powerful it really is for their fight game. Here are some steps to take to your training camp on visualizing your way to victory.
Find Your Perfect Spot
The beginning of even starting out trying to visualize may be difficult because you're so used to being distracted. Find a comfortable spot where no one can disturb you and use this spot for as long as it takes you to do so.
Start by simply closing your eyes. Then you can count your breath all the way from 10 down. If you are in a quiet enough place to focus on your heart beat than do that.
Details.
Clarity is power. The more clear, specific and detailed your mind movie is the more it will serve you. How does it feel to crunch your opponent's abdomen with your fist? How does it look when they collapse to the ground in defeat?
Get each of your senses in on the experience. When you add your sense to the experience, it activates the reticular activating system in your brain. Then when you actually experience it, there will be far less anxiety there if any.
Lose Your Grip.
When you hold on too strong to what you want, it may actually be forcing it away from you. Every detail of your visualization is essential but never hold on too tight to what you want or it will not become reality.
Routes to victory will be presented to you throughout the fight and you should take them. The vice grip should never get in your way to victory.
Use these keys to visualizing and add them to your stronghold. They can be extremely important to your training.
