Are you thinking of a career change and want to know how to work from home in the UK? I am from the UK and I can tell you that you can earn good money working from home. There are many different ways to earn money from home but today I am going to concentrate on owning your own online business. You may think you will need a lot of money to start an online business but this isn't necessarily so. Yes you will have to spend some money but nothing compared to starting an offline business.

Getting Started

There are 4 main things you will need to start your business, a domain name, hosting, an autoresponder and training. A domain name does not cost much (about 7.60 a year), an autoreponder(what's that) I will explain later will cost about 16 a month. You will have to find someone to host your site online, these are known as hosting companies.The training costs can vary depending on what you are interested in learning. Some charge thousands of pounds, which is great if you can afford it. But you can get great training for a lot less than that. The most important thing is that you do your research before you part with your money and don't fall for all the get rich quick schemes that you will see online. The only person getting rich on these schemes is the person selling the product.

Domain Name

It is easy to register a domain name. Just go to one of the various domain registration companies and put in the name you want to call your site and they will tell you if it's available. I use Go Daddy for all my domain names as I said above this cost about 7.60 a year for a .com domain name others

like .co.uk, .net or .info you will get a bit cheaper but I would advise you get a .com domain name.

Autoresponder

An autoresponder is a valuable tool in helping you automate part of your business. It is an email tool that once set up with follow up messages, will at periods set by you automatically sends emails to people who have signed up for more information from you about your business. As I said above this will cost $19(about 16) a month which is a great price for such a time saving tool.

Hosting

The cost of hosting your site varies from company to company. Go Daddy will do your hosting for you I am not sure of the cost as I use a company called My Express Site which is an internet marketers dream. It is very orientated towards the needs of internet marketers. This cost $35(about 30 a month for hosting unlimited domain names. You will find hosting a lot cheaper than this but MES have other tools that are very helpful for me as an internet marketer.

Training

You will want training that takes you from the very beginning, showing you with step by step videos how to buy your domain name, set up the hosting, link your autoresponder to your site. Etc..

As I have said before people will charge you thousands for this type of training, you don't need to spend that sort of money. Find a company which as well as having the training for starting out will give you ongoing training and the support you will need to become successful online.

So now you know how to get started if you want to work from home in the UK. You will also need help and training on how to get people to your site using various different methods including Social Media like facebook article marketing etc.. These are free methods of getting traffic to your site.
