Because people knew of the vast treasures that could be found in them, the tombs began to be robbed. Specialists say that almost 75% of the antiques that were stolen are still buried in the hot and tricky sands of Egypt.

Gold was also used for paying tributes but it was usually in the form of golden rings because in this way the gold was much easier to transport. In our days, gold is still seen as an important part of our economy.
