How White River Trout Fishing Bonded Me With My Father

My fondest memories of my dad is our bonding time with his rig we named Ellen (after

my mom) and a day out fishing in the great waters of the Delaware River. My dad is not an avid sportsman but he considered white water trout fishing as his next great love right after my mom and me. Whatever the occasion be and no matter how hectic his work schedule is, he will always find the time to go fishing and take me with him.

At first, I balked at the idea of waking up while the rest of the world is still fast asleep. But I could not bear to disappoint my dad who thinks the world of me. Grumbling to myself, I would hastily dress for fishing and hurriedly join him. Mom would then have a picnic basket prepared for us complete with the thermos of coffee to perk me up.

White Water Rivers are a sight to behold first thing in the morning. Nothing can compare to the beauty of nature at its best. You can see the lushness of the trees around the river and you can hear and see the rapids caused by the strong currents of the river.

I was blessed to grow up near the Delaware River. There are several locations perfect for fishing. My dad has no particular favorite fishing spot. The boat can never sit still while he commands it.

Ellen the boat is the perfect testament on how mad for fishing my dad is. Ellen housed different kinds of fishing tackles, lines and rods. Dad also does not believe in using the same kind of baits and lures. It has been over twenty years since my dad discovered this passion for fishing but he still continues on experimenting on the different kinds of equipment and lures. You can never tell if he wants to use the jigs or the inline spinners for this particular trip.

The Delaware River is home to several kinds of fishes. For dad, he only goes after the trout. It is not uncommon to see him throw fishes back to the river if they are not the one he is looking for. Also, he is quite particular with the size and weight of the trout.

We have tried all kinds of fishing but for me, nothing beats fishing in your own territory. And territory for me means going fishing in the great white waters of Delaware. If you are going fishing for the first time, I suggest that you try fishing in white rivers first since they are sure to be abundant with all kinds of fishes. They also have none of the unpredictability often associated with open seas and oceans.

White water fishing is a great bonding time with family or friends. You have to truly experience it to enjoy it. What better way to enjoy your family time and cap it off with the fruits of your labor. I tell you, nothing beats the taste of trout that you caught.
