The next factor to be considered is the reservation. While you are travelling by trains in India you should make a reservation for all chair car, sleeper and AC carriages. No reservations are needed for the general compartments. You should make reservations for any overnight travel or for any travel during Indian festivals and holidays. Trains and seats are available in a variety of classes and not all classes are available on every train. Express and mail trains usually have general compartments with unreserved seating and more comfortable compartments.
