How Would It Be To Work For Jalopnik

I can't help myself when I read posts done on Jalopnik to hear that the next latest

and greatest car has just been dropped off for a Jalopnik writter to reivew. Case in point, Travis Okulski was given the privilege of reviewing the newest 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera for several days. How would it be...?

I can only imagine that as a job, it may get boring but how could it? This point just highlights the fact that if you are doing what you love, your job is no longer considered work.

Now, I can imagine that if you are tasked to review the latest Toyota Prius or Chevy Aveo, it may get rather boring as they are not great cars that shine anywhere else but in MPGs but imagine reviewing cars like the 911 Carrera that are considered as "Iconic." The root Icon means that it leads and sets a standard. Anything iconic will be set in the "WOW" category and excite me so much that I won't be able to find anything wrong with the car.

Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear is another one that I can't believe can nit pick a car but after driving such iconic cars such as the Carrera, I can start to understand how things stack up. So how do these guys compare apples to apples. You clearly can't compare a Carrera against a Mitsubishi Evo, or can you?

For both of these critics, the most interesting and probably the most difficult thing is taking the mental element out their judgement. I mean just think of the obviouse outcome if you asked 100 people in Time Square about which they would rather own. Is it your dream to own a mitsubishi? It isn't mine either.

Though somehow, these critics can see through the labels and prestige and get a feel for the beast, regardless of its name or cost. It is my own feeling that their passion runs so deep that the only thing that matters to them is the experience and the performance of the vehicle.

How would it be? I can only imagine....
