How a GPS Navigation System Can Save Your Marriage and Your Life

With a GPS navigation device, couple are much less likely to fight, and more importantly, less likely to be in an accident. After all, there are only a few things more likely to cause an in-car argument than following driving directions, reading a map, and communication between couples.

About 3 hours into my first road trip with my husband over 3 years, he realized that the driving directions he had printed out from the internet were wrong. And to make matters worse, his mobile phone was very low on battery life so we couldn't just go online or call someone to figure out new, more accurate driving directions. Until this trip I think we both had been pretty lucky and had never foiught before over driving directions.

I was pretty annoyed that he did not double check the directions before we left the house. I'm not exactly sure how it all started but we began arguing. What should have been a little bickering somehow got blown way out of proportion, which often happens between an old married couple like us. Next thing you know, we were in a full blown argument.

This is where things really took a turn for the worse. Apparently my husband was more focused on the argument and he wasn't paying enough attention to the road ahead of us. Next thing you know Bam. We rammed the back of a huge truck while driving on the freeway at over 70mph. Ouch. Not only was the car totally damaged, but we were pretty distraught over what had just happened. Luckily, no one was hurt, but we had wrecked two cars and our insurance wasn't going to too happy about the whole situation.

We called a tow truck, the police and then went to get a rental car. We decided to go home right away. Now, if only we had bought a GPS navigation system before this road trip. Then we would have never gotten into the fight, and we would never have gotten into the accident.

The first thing I did when I got home was I went online and bought a brand new Garmin Nuvi GPS navigation device. Now my husband and I don't fight over directions, we fight over who gets to use the GPS device. Since we bought a GPS navigation device, we have not had any fights inside our car, and more importantly, neither one of us have been in a car accident.

Most people don't realize how dangerous driving can be until it is too late. GPS navigation can really reduce the likelihood of an in-vehicle fight between driver and navigator. Not only does this help to reduce stress and keep the peace in relationships, but it keeps drivers and passengers safe.

After that road trip, I vowed to my husband that I would never, ever drive anywhere unfamiliar with him unless we had the Garmin navigation device all charged up and ready to go.
