How can I learn Online Marketing?

Have you ever come across those ads online that claim you can make unbelievable amounts of money on the internet with their "secret" formula or program? I have, way too many times, and I got so frustrated when I found out that almost all of them are scams. I do believe that there is a way to make money online, even enough to stay at home and do it full time. But my problem was how and where to get the honest information and training on how to make money online. I spent days, even weeks checking out all those ads, researching their authors or business names, only to come up with another scam or MLM that I was not in the least interested in. I even paid a few dollars for one program or another that did not make me a dime.

Then one day I started searching and by accident ran into an ad that did not claim that they were the next big thing, or had the secret program to make you millions without doing anything. What I started learning was how money is really made on the internet. People who are making good or even great money online are more likely than not affiliate marketers; ie people who get paid a commission to promote and sell other peoples' products. This goes back to an age old way to make money, by selling something for commission or profit. It is a very simple concept, put the consumer and the supplier together, and if the consumer buys something, the supplier will give you a cut or commission for bringing the customer to them. Sounds very simple, right? Well the concept is simple, but the actuality of getting it done is another thing. This is where it would be very helpful to get some training on how this is done in an online world.

This kind of marketing has two basic ways of doing things, one is free, the other costs money. The free method is often referred to as article marketing. Writing articles to generate traffic to a website or landing page. It is free to submit articles on many web article sites, and all you need to do is write and submit articles and hope someone reads them and clicks through to your website or landing page. The other way is called Pay Per Click marketing and essentially how it works is you pay for traffic. Each time someone clicks your ad, it costs you a few cents up to over a dollar. This can be extremely risky, but can also get you some higher converting traffic to your website.

Either of these two methods will work if done correctly and with the right content and keywords, etc. The most important thing in any type of online endeavor is that you do something productive. Either write articles and submit them, or pay for some advertising. The biggest mistake people make is that they quit before really getting an honest start. Anything worth while takes time and effort and hard work before the real pay out comes. Too many people are just looking for a get rich quick scheme without having to do anything to honestly earn something.
