The Vaio PCG-FXA59 is a laptop manufactured by Sony, powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery pack. If the battery is not recharging or powering the laptop you will need to troubleshoot both the battery and the AC adapter. The AC adapter provides electrical power to the computer, as well as charging the battery. If the AC adapter is not working, the battery will not be able to charge. Ensure the battery is properly inserted. If not inserted correctly, the battery will not power the computer or recharge.

Instructions

1.Turn the Sony Vaio laptop off.

2.Push the battery bay cover door downward to unlock the cover. Once unlocked, lift the cover upward to expose the battery bay.

3.Pull the batteryvgp-bps13a/b from the battery bay for removal. Close the battery bay door.

4.Turn the laptop on. If the laptop does not turn on, your AC adapter or DC In outlet is not properly working. Replace the AC adapter and if that still does not solve the problem, a professional will need to replace the "DC In" outlet. If the AC adapter does power the laptop, it is working correctly.

5.Insert the AC adapter into the "DC In" outlet, on the back of the Sony Vaio laptop. The AC adapter is two separate pieces which connect to form one large cord. The AC adapter features the DC jack and the box or square-looking portion of the cord, while the power cord features the portion of the cord that plugs in to an electrical outlet. Ensure the power cord is securely inserted or connected to the AC adapter. If not properly connected, power can not flow from the electrical outlet to the computer. Plug the AC power adapter into a working electrical outlet.

6.Plug the AC adapter into the laptop. Thevgp-bps13a/s battery indicator light on the front of the laptop will begin blinking, indicating the battery is charging. Allow the battery to charge until the battery indicator light turns off or overnight if the battery indicator light is not working.

7.Power down the laptop and remove the AC adapter.

8.Open the battery bay. Slide the batteryvgp-bps13b/b into the battery bay, with the battery label facing downward. Push the battery as far inward as it will go. Close the battery bay door.

9.Remove the AC adapter. Press the "Power" button to turn the laptop on. If the laptop does not power on, the battery is dead and needs to be replaced.
