How i became a plasterer

Part 2

Part 2

So when i left school i obviously went straight into plastering with my brother, which wasn't alot as he didn't really like it, and we was doing more dry lining than anything. Also we wasn't getting on to well working with each other so, i started looking for a proper apprenticeship, and i managed to find one working for a local builder, and going to collage 2 days a week. It was brilliant as i was doing mainly plastering and all sorts of building work as well to mix things up, after a couple of months of working for them, the builder put me with his old man, another old school plasterer who was set in his ways, but i learnt so much from him, he could do basically everything apart from plumbing and electrics, and our first job was actually building a house from scratch, we done everything from the ground works and footings, right through to putting the windows, roof and all the plastering, rendering, hanging the doors, putting the floors in. I must admit i thoroughly enjoyed all of it, was a real insight, and learnt how to plaster the proper way in the mean time, this job lasted about three to four months.

After that was another big refurb on some offices in Bristol, which was a lot of other stuff for me to learn as well, like tanking the cellars and stuff, knocking walls through, and obviously all the plastering, and this guy would have me mix plaster with a batten, would never let me use a drill or whisk, Evan in the 21st century, done me goof though.
