How seriously do your employees take workplace safety

?

Everyone tends to target the employers when it comes to workplace safety. You as an employer may have to adhere to the rules given by OSHA about workplace safety but if your employees don't take safety that seriously as you, your whole effort will go to waste.

Employees' health and safety responsibility doesn't lie solely in the hands of the employers only. As much as the employers, employees must have an active role in creating a safe and healthy working environment, as well as complying with all the applicable rules.

An employee's right is to work in a safe and healthy workplace, and this has been put down by the law, thus it cannot be removed or changed by any employer. There are so many things employees should do to reduce the risks associated with their work. Some of them are:

* Study and follow safe practices which apply to their work.

* Understand the company's health and safety policies.

* Cooperate and coordinate with their colleagues.

* Apply the principles for accident prevention in their daily work.

* Use safety devices and PPE provided by their employers or those required by their employment.

* Take proper care of the PPE.

* Avoid wearing loose or torn clothing while working around machinery.

* Report any industrial injury or occupational illness to their supervisors.

* Do not interfere or misuse any work practice provided or designed to protect workers from any work related hazards.

* Take care not to put others at risk by what you do and don't do during work.

The above might explain some of the employees' responsibility to be safe but one of the most important things that they must comply with or follow is to register into the OSHA safety training.

Work place health and safety hazards can turn costly to both employers and the employees. But they are preventable if the right precautions are taken. These precautions can be attained through adequate safety training.

OSHA has also mandated workers to undertake this training to improve their attitude towards work, learn about OSHA standards and the preventive measures to reduce work place hazards. There several OSHA training courses which cover 30 to 8 hours of training. After completing this course, workers will also receive the OSHA certification and wallet card.

The OSHA safety training program is provided by several government agencies, private schools and non-profit organizations. Most popularly, you will find this training offered online, which can be completed faster than the traditional classes.
