If you are someone who is participating in a conference over the World Wide Web then rest assure it is going to be a hell of an experience for you. You might lead the web conference or you might even be one of the participants, either way the entire experience is going to be a nerve wracking one for you.
Here we mention a few tips which will help the conference go smoother than you expect it to go. But then apart from these tips try not to be stiff all the time and act in a natural way. You don't have to look like a statue so try and smile a bit.
Plan from before
Planning ahead is a very important thing which you need to do. Make sure that you don't have any conflicts when it comes to the time zone and that everyone is fine with the time which is assigned. You need to let everyone know what the time, the date and also the duration of the conference is going to be.
If required you should send any documents through email from before. If there is any information regarding security you need to provide it to them. These include log information and passwords and so on. You also have to make sure that, all of the participants have the necessary tools.
Movement, angle and focus of web cam
You need to adjust the camera in such a way so that you are located in the center. You also need to make sure that before the conference begins the focus of the camera is adjusted properly. It is not a good thing if you make sudden or quick movements. It distracts everyone else and often it just looks like a little blurry image.
Microphone and headphones
You need to position the microphone in such a way that you get a really good feedback. If you use a headset make sure that it doesn't block your face. Also during the web conference while you are speaking try not to make any noise or shuffle papers and so on. Also don't eat or drink during the conference or keep the radio or TV turned on.
Clothes
Just like any other conference in person, you also have to dress up for the web conference. Don't wear patterns which are wild or even fancy and make sure that you wear the solid colors. Just dress like you would for a regular meeting and you will be fine. Also make sure that you do not wear your bathrobe or anything casual or too fancy during the web conference. It is not going to give everyone a proper impression.
