You may get a regular transcription audio, with no heavy terms. But likely, you may also get hard-to-transcribe audio like term heavy medical recordings or financial calls. You have to be ready for all types of transcription jobs. To condition yourself for financial or medical transcriptionist work, try reading more. Add diversity to your reading; don't just read fiction. Try reading academic books like medical references or financial magazines. This will broaden your knowledge of industry-specific terminology.

Also, you have to learn how to be resourceful in transcriptionist jobs. As mentioned above, audio recordings may have a lot of terms in them. Sometimes, you would hear a new term and not know what it is, even after reading piles and piles of resources. When this happens, you would have to do research. Google is a good ally here. Ensure the spelling and formatting of term. If you have time, familiarize yourself with the meaning of term as well. Being a transcriptionist from home takes a lot of skill and preparation.
