Step 1

Firstly, make sure that you are logged into your Facebook account. If a person is being abusive or offensive to you, you may wish to report them to Facebook before you block them. You can do this by clicking on the 'Report/block this person' link on their Facebook page.

Step 2

If you simply want to block the person, then go to your 'Account' which is on the top right of the screen and click on 'privacy settings'.

Step 3

In the middle of this page you will find the link to 'Block lists'. Click on this and then 'edit your lists'.

Step 4

You can then type in the name or email address of the person you wish to block and click on 'block this user'.

Step 5

Before they are unblocked, you will be shown a list of people that may include the person that you wish to block. Find them in the list and then click on 'Block' next to their name. This person will then be blocked from your account - they will no longer be your friend on Facebook and will not be able to contact you.
