That's true to some extent, but if you want to be successful and earn long term dividend, you need to make selling more than promotion. You need to make selling a way of building relationships.

The most successful businesses today are able to survive stiff competition because they are able to maintain a good customer base, that is, they are able to harness emotional and personal connections with their customers either through phone calls, sending postcard printing, or greeting cards. They understand that good customer service is critical for business success. But how do you achieve this? You know that positive customer relationship is important, so how do you use this knowledge and translate it into action?

As a business owner, you primary goal is to develop a connection with your customers, not to show them how good you are. As you go along with your business, you inform your customers about your products and services with the hope of making a sale. That sounds easy to do, right? But what do you do after the sale? This is the hard part. Competition is always stiff in the market so you need to build trust with your customers along with providing excellent customer service.

It is especially daunting to maintain customers when people are cutting back on spending. During these times, you need to work harder to keep your customers as your competitors are trying to lure in customers the same as you. But, how do you do this? Here are simple pointers for you to consider:

1.Maintain good customer service. Customers are likely to stay with businesses that treat them well. No one would like to do business with irate owners or sales persons, right? So, make your customers happy and they are likely to stay with you and even refer their friends to you.

2.Let them feel valued and appreciated. From time to time, send greeting cards or print post cards that tell your customers that you remember them. This will let them feel appreciated, which in turn will encourage then to make repeat sales with you.


3.Create products that your customers need. If your products don't appeal to your customers, they will not come back to you. So, make sure that your products are something they need, not something they only want.

4.Improve your products and services. Remember that competition gets stiffer and stiffer as the market continuously changes. So, go with the flow, do research, and keep up with the changes in the market.

5.Build a good bond with your customers. Always keep your customers on top of your priorities. They are, after all, who will help you attain business success. Be more compassionate in relating with them. Make them feel that you are more than a business provider but a friend also.

Keep in mind that keeping your customers and building relationships with them matter a lot to your business success. Do everything to keep them happy and keep their trust. Once you've established good rapport with them, selling won't be a difficult task for you. Ultimately, they will bring you good business in the years to come.
