I was recently in the market for a new computer and I thought that I would jot down a few words on the process that I went through to decide upon what type of computer to purchase.

Decide what you need to do with the computer.

After you have decided what your new computer needs to do, you need to decide how you are going to use the new computer i.e. in one place only e.g. at home or work, or would you like to use it in a variety of locations or on the move? If you only require to use the new computer in one place then a desktop set up would probably be a better solution, if not, then one of the range of mobile computers maybe a better choice. Mobile computers include laptop computers, netbooks and tablets.

Look at Your Budget.

How much do you have to spend? Most of us are not fortunate enough to have a bottomless pit of money so set a price limit for your new computer. If you have a low price limit don't worry as there are now many cheap but reliable computers available.

Investigate the technology available.

So now you know what you want your computer to do, what type of new computer you are looking for and at what price; it is time when looking at the technology available for your new computer.
