Microsoft Outlook has come a long way since its inception in 1997 which came as a part of MS Office 97. Many versions came up one by one and now it's MS Office 2010 which is in the market now. Outlook had its versions updated with every new release. The release dates and the different versions of Outlook are Outlook 97, Outlook 98, Outlook 2000, Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, and Outlook 2010.

Now outlook can be configured with MS exchange which is used in corporate houses or else one can set it up with a POP3 or an IMAP server for own use. Well there are certain corporate too who uses pop3 or IMAP. Now, since Outlook 2010 is the latest version we are going to learn how it is configured with MS exchange and then we are going to move on to POP3 settings too. Once system requirements are checked, and Outlook 2010 is installed, it's time to activate it and configure it. First is the activation and then starts the configuration phase. First open Outlook 2010, go to the File Tab and click Account Settings button.

This will open the option to add a new email account. Fill up the required details like user name, email address and password. Since this is an auto account setup and it is connected to MS Exchange the configuration takes place automatically. In case any issue arises there is an option to enter the details manually too where one needs to enter more details like server name and password along with the basic details like user name and email address.

So, this is the way to configure MS Outlook2010 with MS Exchange. Let's move on to POP3. The Best part in outlook 2010 is the auto account setup. In the POP3 settings once you choose the username along with the complete email address and password, it will automatically configure to POP3. However, one needs to update the POP3 settings in the concerned email address in the web environment. Now if one has to choose a particular SMTP or pop3 server then the best option would be to do it manually.
