How to Cope With Heart Break
If you're a teenager then dealing with heart break can be nearly impossible. There is so much going on with teenagers at this age that it will definitely be difficult. If you're an adult then dealing with heart break is going to be a matter of patching up your ego.
Every one will have different coping methods; some will work better than others. But the one thing you need to understand is that coping with heart break doesn't mean living with it, it means moving past it so you can discover new opportunities for meaningful relationships.
Coping with heart break can be hard because you're going to want to believe badly that some how you are at fault for it. In your mind you'll create reasons to blame yourself for the break up and you'll begin to determine your self worth based on this bad breakup. Remember to not let a bad breakup make you feel like you are not worth much to someone else. It's easy to feel deflated when someone breaks up with you and you still have feelings for them, but you cannot let it control how you'll value yourself with the next person you meet.
Heart breaks are difficult because on some level you are going to have a hard time believing that anyone will be able to love you again. The person who broke your heart might even say this to you. Don't for a second believe what you're being told. It is just the other person's way of trying to reduce you to nothing.
You'll meet someone who will give you what you want and need, whether it's a long term relationship, intimacy, or just plain companionship. This doesn't mean that you treat people like they are throw aways, but if you want to get over a broken heart then knowing someone else out there will value you will make you feel much better.
The most important thing to remember when you're trying to deal with a heart break is to not blame yourself. Why would you blame yourself after all? Do you believe that the breakup was your fault? Do you believe if you did something different you would still be together with the person? Consider for a second that it is the other person's fault and not yours, or better yet don't point the finger at all, just move on and forget about the relationship. It might be hard at first, but it will get easier to cope over time.
Heart breaks hurt no matter what. Some people will try to be coy about it and pretend like it doesn't hurt them, but if you had genuine feelings for other person then you'll experience a little bit of a hurting period. Coping with it is simply a means not letting it tear you apart and acknowledging that you still will make a great catch for somebody.
