That way you have something to work with and can go about simply creating a skirt to go around the leotard or swimsuit. This can either be an elastic wasted skirt, or you can simply buy some thick ribbon and sew a soft fabric to it which can then be wrapped around and tied at the side.

The smock dress can be made by following a simple pattern using a durable fabric. These simple smocks are great for playing outside and painting.

Choosing the right one

Let your daughter help pick which one she would like you to make. Once you know what you will be able to create, let her choose which style she would like and the colours which will be used. This will make it all the more exciting for her.

Get your child involved in the process

This is the best part. Let your child make accessories like a crown or scepter to go with her new dress, if she decides on the fairy princess design. There are so many fun activities like adding glitter to the ballerinas skirt and making a pretty crown from cardboard and plastic jewels. Getting her involve will make the process fun for both of you and something you can enjoy together!
