Apart from the many approaches we can use in order to get rid of the string algae in the pond, one must also know the nutrients that gas up the growth of these parasites.

Whatever method you choose to use to get rid of algae in the pond, keep in mind that they shouldn't be 100% wiped out. Totally killing these algae will cause harm in the balance of the eco-system in the pond. Some algae types especially the velvet-like algae on the sides of the pond serve as the natural cleaner of the water system. That is why controlling them is recommended specifically string algae. If done properly, their tangling up with the other plants in the pond will be prevented thus making it a much healthier dwelling place for the fish.

String algae are actually one of the easiest to deal with when it comes to algae problems. This is because they can be removed either manually or with the use of equipments like UV devices which gives out high amounts to ultraviolet light to expose algae and thus killing them. The manual process is just forking out these algae and leaving the pond as flawless as possible with the use of a wooden stick of some sort.
