How to Deal with the Grief of a Cheating Wife at Christmas
Christmas is a tough time of year to have a marriage on the rocks. You feel as though you're surrounded with constant reminders of the marriage you want but don't have especially once you've learned that your wife has been cheating on you. The holidays are for happy people and you might feel as though you're just going to skip or boycott them all this year.
Dealing with grief this time of year can be particularly difficult because so few people can really understand what you're going through. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you work to manage your grief and try to enjoy the holidays now that you know the truth about your cheating wife.
1) Pay attention and watch closely that your sadness over your wife's cheating doesn't become a full blown depression that needs qualified medical treatment. The holidays are a terrible time to be sad and lonely. Statistics do not favour the depressed during the Christmas season. It's important that if you feel you aren't moving forward quickly enough or just can't find your way to the light from the sadness then you need to seek immediate medical attention.
2) Limit your exposure to people, places, and situations that make you sad. The odds are good that you are still sharing your home with your wife. This means you can't limit your exposure to her without raising eyebrows or facing questions you may not be ready to answer (or even know the answers to). But you can limit how much time you spend with people or at places that make you feel even sadder or worse about yourself and your situation.
3) Do things that you usually enjoy about the holidays. If you enjoy carolling, making egg nog, or decorating your home for the holidays, don't rob yourself of these things that make your holidays happy. You'll find that you are both happier individually and with being together for the holidays if you do the things that make the holidays special to each of you.
4) Buy your wife a special gift that comes from the heart and not so much from the wallet. You want to use this opportunity to give your wife a gift that really has meaning. Whether you decide to work things out together or you decide to go your separate ways after the holidays are over you'll know that you gave her something with meaning to remember this Christmas by forever. It's something you can truly feel glad about.
