How to Decide on a Suitable Aftershave

Nowadays, it is common to find men's skincare products for sale in most large department stores, supermarkets, hairdressers and some menswear chain stores to name a few. Manufacturing and selling these products to consumers is now a world-wide multimillion dollar business as men of all ages who like to look well groomed have discovered that using aftershave for men products makes their skin feel refreshed and invigorated.

Some aftershave lotions have a pleasant scent which is an important consideration for many men. Looking through the selection of different brands of aftershave for men available on shop shelves can be confusing and making up your mind whether to buy a cologne, lotion or balm can be a difficult exercise.

In some of the more up-market stores you might find yourself surprised at the price of some of the more luxurious brands of aftershave that are available. For example, many of the top fashion houses such as Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and Chanel use their brand names to market expensive aftershave for men products.

In some stores that sell men's shaving related products you may find small tester bottles or dispensers of aftershave products that have been provided especially for men (or perhaps a woman looking for a gift for her man) to use so they can sample the fragrance and suitability of the products being marketed.

I recall travelling on a bus some years ago and being overpowered by the strong fragrance from the aftershave or cologne a guy was wearing sitting next to me. It was not that pleasant so I have learnt to avoid buying aftershave lotions that have too strong a fragrance. Choosing a suitable aftershave is of course a personal choice, but it is worthwhile remembering that the smell or fragrance you emanate can project an impression on how other men and women see you.

Overall, it can also be a good idea to have two or three different aftershave for men lotions or aftershave balms in your bathroom cabinet that can be splashed on for daywear, during a night out and perhaps a more expensive luxurious muskier scent for that special date or occasion.
