It has been noticed that about 10% of the eggs hatch for every female and it takes only three days for them to mature and mate.

The female mite is known to have a life span of a month; hence you would have more mites infesting your skin, in case if the female survives longer. At the time when you use medications to eliminate scabies, these medications would initially kill the live mites. However, you must continue the medication even after the mites are killed, so as to get rid of the underlying eggs.

In most cases, people with a weaker immune system are highly prone to re-infestations. In such cases, the body's mechanism fails to eliminate the eggs, which mature and mate further. In case if the mites-killing medication comes with harmful side effects, you can always switch to natural treatments in order to prevent re-infestation. Apart from proper hygienic conditions, you must scrub your skin frequently, use sulphur products as well as petroleum jelly. You can also use natural oils with therapeutic properties such as tea tree oil, in order to prevent the re-infestation of mites by placing 8 drops of oil in a bath.
