Power down. If the screen does not display any picture at all, shut down the laptop down and connect it to an external monitor using a VGA cable and a DVI/VGA adapter. Then turn the external monitor on and start the laptop up. If a picture is displayed on the external monitor, then the LCD of the PowerBook G4 or iBook G4 is the source of the problem and must be replaced or repaired.
