There are several ways to generate or drive traffic to a website. The idea is to go to free social/community websites available like YouTube, MySpace, and Squidoo, and drive traffic from these websites to your own. Now, the mistake people make when marketing to these people on social networking sites is they try to sell a product to them. You might say, "well isn't that the idea", no it is not. People do not want to be sold to, especially people who are browsing the internet. Your approach in marketing to people on social networking sites, is to brand yourself, then offer your products. When people see a face along with a product it breaks the ice and the more they see your face and hear your voice, the more comfortable they will become. The more comfortable a person is, its more likely they will purchase your products and become a valued customer. Its simple as that!
Now how exactly, do you drive traffic from these social websites?
Well, thats simple. Most people already have MySpace pages, and browse YouTube and Squidoo but if you don't, sign up for an account on all three websites. Remember the purpose is to brand yourself, so write down some of your goals, ambitions, where you are and where you hope to be in the future. You may not have success selling online and thats fine, but do not lie! Do not make the mistake of starting an account with these websites, lie and say you are a millionaire with thousands of dollars. Be honest, just say that you are into internet marketing and your goals are this or your goal is that. Most of the time the comfort level is just seeing someone that people can relate to. People want to buy from someone they can trust. The more people see you, the more they will trust you. Now as your success grows, you can always change your information, just remember to be honest.
YouTube is the most powerful marketing tool because your customers will see your face and or hear your voice, also you can put your YouTube videos on your MySpace and Squidoo page. With YouTube, do not get discouraged if you do not have a video camera or have no experience with movies because 99% of YouTubers are amateurs and thats ok. Most people do not know, but every computer has the software you need to make movies. If you have a PC, you have Windows Movie Maker software which allows you to make movies, and if you have a Mac, you have iMovie which allows you to make movies as well. The only thing you may need is a microphone (if your computer doesn't already come with one) which you can purchase for like $20. Now you have all the tools necessary! There are also free videos on YouTube that will show you step by step how to make movies if you have no experience with Windows Movie Maker or iMovie.
