In this article I want to talk about child obesity, not only the consequences, but also what you can do to make your child livehappy again.

With the increase of all the fast food restaurants we have, the child's weight increases too! Obesity is, like you surely know, a massive problem in our society. Not only can it lower the self- esteem of your child, it also may result in serious health problems. After 10 years of age, I started to eat all the junk food out there without thinking of the consequences. Everything that had sugar written all over it, disappeared (viewable around my mouth) in my stomach and with it tons of sugar in liquid form. At the age of 10 and further you do not think about the consequences, you just enjoy.

Why do I tell you that? I want to make sure that I know what your kid is going through and how hard it is to live with it.


But like I said in the beginning, the consequences might be devastating and result in:

diabetes

high blood pressure

heart disease

30 years ago, at this time fast food restaurants were still more or less countable, we had 5 percent of obese kids. Today we are talking about 12- 15 percent of obese kids who are already suffering under diabetes and depression caused by weight gain.

What made the difference of those 7- 10 percent less obese kids?

The answer to that question is pretty simple. Back then, you were not able to choose between 100s of cable channels and computer games. Kids were forced to do more outdoor activities. Today kids are captured to the TV or the PC, outdoor activities became probably a one week event during physical education in school, sometimes not even there because some schools do not offer it anymore.

What to do?

1. Since you cannot really change the general system, you can start changing the system in your household.

Start helping your kid to become more active again. But do not just tell him to play outside, find something that he or she likes and incorporate it into different activities. This way your kid has fun and does not even think about TV or PC. The problem is, kids do not know how to be active outside without getting bored at the same time. That is one of the reasons why he or she is sitting in front of the TV all day in the first place. I know what I am talking about... remember? I was such a kid and my mom was never at home, so I wasted my time in front of the TV.

2. Start drastically to decrease the fat of every meal that you cook. Start physical activities such as playing, but also target exercises like:

- jumping robe

- at the beginning fast walking ( with the time increase to jogging)


This helps to lose fat and keeps it off.

It has proven that physical activities also helps the mental state and helps to eliminate anxiety and depression. So it's good for the body and the soul at the same time.

3. Do not force your child do to all this at once. Keep in mind, he probably has not done any kind of exercise for long or no time. According to his age start playing more outside with him as he or she is still younger. Later on keep on encouraging him to play more outside, or get him involved in whatever sport he likes to choose. Let him or her choose, otherwise he will not have fun and is more likely to quit very soon.

Switch TV off, even you have to face an argument, but explain to him why you do it.
