How to Find the Right Job Board
Finding the right job board is not only of value to the person presenting their resume
, but to the person that is looking for candidates for future employment. For both people seeking employment and employers seeking people, a job board has become a crucial part of the process.
Steps for landing employment by finding the right job board:
Start with your profession. For writer, this means registering and submitting your portfolio and resume to journalism job boads and freelance writing job boards. Both companies and individuals looking to hire use these sites to find a professional that meets their criteria. The advantage of the job board is that jobs are posted and freelancers are able to view the various job postings and decide whether they would like to submit a proposal or their resume. Job boards can operate in different ways. The job postings may involve simply submitting your resume with a cover letter or it may involve bidding on the posting. This gives both the individual and the company to review all responses and make the decision on their own terms. Postings will likely differ greatly from eachother. In some cases you may opportunities may only required a few projects, while others may require something more long term.
The word "hiring" is often interchanged with the word "staffing".
Staffing simply means routing, recommendations, concurrence, and approvals for memoranda and official documents. On the job boards, it is a word that is often interchanged with hiring meaning the company is hiring.
To find employment there are many job boards on the Internet. One simple search will yield many results. Craigslist is one. Odesk another. Freelance, yet another. And, new to the scene - which I actually don't think has launched yet is KDLance. All of these job boards offer opportunities to webdesigners, writers, and many other freelancers. Then there are the job boards for professionals who are offering their services, for instance accounting or bookkeeping. The task of finding employment has been simplified to finding the
job boards and posting accordingly.
Today with the Internet, opportunity has been presented to both those seeking employment and those looking to hire. It is a entirely new generation of conducting business and one that has not only created many work at home jobs for freelancers but one that has brought the perfect employer to the perfect employee many times over. And it is simply accomplished through the job boards. It is crucial to use keywords when uploading your resume to any online job board. For example if you are a writer, then you would want to include journalism, journalist, writer, writing, etc. as your keywords in which prospective employers would use when searching for your services.
Job postings on these boards will vary greatly, so be selective if you go to them for employment. Some may be quite low in pay while other moderate and some wonderful in salary. Time is of value, so be selective in what you apply for and what you take.
