How to Find the Safest Skin Care Product Ingredients
How to find the safest skin care product ingredients is not the easiest task you'll ever do. Many of us may have given up trying and have resigned our search to the corner drug store. Let me make your search a lot easier, safer and more economical.
The reason we usually bring home the 'bargain' skin care product is as stated : "I saved a lot of money because it was on sale and oh, my, it has such a nice fragrance."
Is the price and the good smell making a wise choice? We all know the answer because that 'gunk' many times changes from a sweet smell to a rancid odor. If it doesn't that means it probably is jammed full of some kind of preservatives. I'll get to why in a moment.
Research. Research. Research. Not just look at the price and buy the odor.
Ingredients You Need to Know About
I am not going to review or even name skin care products here in this article but I am going to mention a few ingredients that you should stay away from and a few you should be using daily.
Harmful Ingredients
Now you wouldn't knowingly put something on your skin especially your face that possibly could cause cancer. If you have not done your research then you might be doing just that.
A popular skin care brand (which I won't name) uses a foundation that is oil-free. It comes in several shades. Sounds good?
Well, in the 'nice' product are ingredients that have been linked to or suspected to cause cancer, reproductive difficulties, allergy-type reactions and so forth.
Another well-known cosmetic concern (which many people think is great) has a skin clearing lotion that also has ingredients linked to skin, eye, lung irritation and yes cancer.
And here is the shocker!! Their labels do not say that it contains harmful ingredients and they are not required to -yet. Do you see where research can maybe save your life or at least save a lot of future misery?
What Can You Do?
You can do these things that will help protect your skin and overall health.
1. Check out any company that you may be considering.
a. Ask them by emailing their website or phoning, for a list of their product ingredients.
b. Ask if it contains any allergy causing compounds. Ask questions like this.
If you don't get an answer back or a 'fuzzy' answer, then guess what? Move on to another company.
2. Research the ingredients on the label. Google the word or phrase. You may be surprised at the answer.
3. EWG has a database named: Skin Deep. Check it out for the safety rating of cosmetics. They base the rating on the ingredients the product contains.
4. Get educated about the ingredients that are safe and those that are not or at least suspicious.
It is All About the Money
Well, it shouldn't be. But safe ingredients do cost a little more. Natural, real natural, not some synthetic 'goop' that has a great fragrance.
Inside the fragrance is often hidden preservatives, or shelf-life extenders, that are not safe. There are natural preservatives and there are the synthetic ones.
