This is because when insomnia continues for some months, then the cause is not mental but physical. This type of a condition can be solved by making a few a minor adjustments in your daily schedule. There are some basic principles which when incorporated in your routine will ensure that you get a good night's sleep.

Insomnia can happen if you have already cut down on your sleeping hours even before the condition hit you. Al those late nights at the office will not matter if you are not around to reap their benefits. Studies that have been conducted on sleeping disorders have shown that people who sleep less than six hours a day have a seventy percent higher mortality rate when compared with people who sleep at least for seven or eight hours. Researchers have observed that insomnia can be cured if the individual falls into a regular pattern of sleeping then the whole cycle of insomnia gets disturbed and it will gradually go way, but that does not mean you have to follow the schedule strictly. It is alright to stay up late occasionally provided you get up at the same time in the morning or the whole cycle will begin again.

If you think catching up for your sleep that you lost in the afternoon will help in getting your strength back and help in reducing the fatigue, then you are extremely misinformed, this is because if you sleep on an odd time, it will disturb your whole sleeping schedule and may you end up sleeping on the time that you have set aside for work. This will disrupt your whole schedule and will also cause a lot of physical problems. It could weaken your immune system and make you prone to deadly diseases and because of the fact that you are not getting any rest you may end up feeling lethargic throughout the day.

Another precaution which will help you a lot in keeping insomnia at bay is, not changing your sleeping routine even on the weekends. This is because it disturbs the body clock a lot and totally alters the sleeping patterns. Thus increasing the chance of you suffering from Sunday night insomnia, if we get up two hours late on a weekend then we will get sleep two hours late in the night. This shifting of the body clock is very unhealthy for us as individuals as it will result in us sleeping during our work time and being wide awake when we are supposed to sleep. Make sure that you get up on time even if you sleep late as this will help in keeping the body clock intact, you may feel drowsy during the day but that is the price that you will have to pay for getting proper sleep later in the night.

Studies have shown that working out, even for half an hour helps tremendously in getting a sound sleep. You feel sleepy six hours later, thus it is advisable that you plan it in such a way that the time table coincides with your normal sleeping time.
