You don't have to be a straight up goofball and most of the time you really would not want to, but you do need to be able to show a woman that you can enjoy yourself and that she will enjoy herself when she is out with you.

3. You have to possess the ability to make her feel sexual attraction.

This is what separates the guys who become friends with women from the guys that actually get dates with women. The ability to make a woman feel sexual attraction is a skill that you need to develop, because without it, you can bet that most of the time you will end up being nothing more than just a friend to her.
