? I sure have, and that is why I am writing this article for you. I want to share my own personal experiences with you so you don't have it as rough as I did in my own relationship. Chances are, what you are going through right now is no different than what I was going through not so very long ago. I have been through the same hurt and helplessness as I'm sure you are feeling right now. Relationships are tough but with the right knowledge and advice they are very doable and fixable.First off, if your ex is in the process of moving out do not try to reason with or prohibit any of their progress. This will just appear confrontational and this is not what you or they need at this present time. And whatever you do, do not follow them around begging and pleading for them to stay. This will just make you seem needy and will not help the situation at all. Instead, go somewhere else and allow your partner to do what they need to do as far as packing or what have you. You being there will only stir up emotions and sometimes cause a whole new argument. If something is so serious to make your ex want to move out then words will not change their mind at this point.
Next, let it be known that if you can be of any assistance to just let you know. But be very careful how you word that as to not let them think that you are anxious for them to go. Just a casual "if you need me, call me" will do. And as far as calling goes, now listen carefully, do not harass him/her with phone calls and emails, etc. Allow for alone time and time to reflect on what has transpired before any type of contact is made. This time away may allow you to start missing each other and realize that you both have made a big mistake.
The next step is probably the most painful and difficult to deal with and that is returning to your house after your ex moves out. Coming back to what used to be you and your ex's home and finding it in shambles or just plain empty will send a rush of feelings over you that can't be described. You are going to feel like your world as you know it has ended. Which, in fact, is just beginning. Depending on the situation, the first step you need to do is to clean up and rearrange and make it your own. Put things where you would like them and if needed go out and buy some new stuff to take the place of things that are no longer there. The sooner you get through this difficult time the easier it will be to move to the next step.
Once you have gotten your house back in order and adjusted to not having that extra person around (hard to tell how long it will take as everyone is different ) it is time to get to work on you. This may be a very tough time for you if you are not used to doing things for yourself such as grocery shopping, cooking, or paying your bills. This also includes balancing your check book.
During this period there may have been some contact with your ex or there may have not. If so, make sure you make them aware of all the things that you have been learning and even invite them over for a nice home cooked meal and allow them to see that you can do it by yourself if need be. This might just be enough to show them what they are missing out on and send them running back to you. But whatever happens, take it slow and don't jump back into it before you are both ready. There is nothing worse than diving back into something and ending up right back into the same rut as you fell in before.
Time heals all wounds, as they say, so take this time and really try to improve on your flaws and even if you and your ex doesn't get back together it will prepare you for your next relationship.
