How to Heal from Separation

Separation is one of the hardest things to accept in a relationship

, particularly to married couples experiencing a divorce. Divorce becomes an ultimate alternative to couples that are not able to fix marital differences, either on their own or through marriage counseling and professional help. Divorce is a legal action or procedure of dissolving marriage, then allowing married individuals to marry again.

Divorce accepts the fact that married couples are not willing to solve marital problems, and/or that one party does not want to continue the marital relationship. Settlements on sharing of properties, child custody and financial support are then taken to court for fair separation. Divorce is an easier process than an annulmentan annulment grants nullity of marriage that can only be granted if it meets certain requirements that prove the valid marriage was indeed not valid. This can make it a much more tedious process than separation.

Along with this, either of the two parties may have a hard time recovering with the stress caused by separation. Mostly, the other party tends to get involved in a new relationship outside of the marriage to cope up with the situation or as an attempt to move on and move forward. Research shows that spouses typically take a year or more to totally move on as a process of recovery. With this, they seek comfort from friends, family members or the new found partner.

Sometimes, the most difficult part of divorce or separation is who gets custody of the child or children of the marriage. Leaving one parent without a child can make moving forward harder or more difficult for one parents over the other.
