Printing posters lets you impart a uniquely visual message to the youth which they can easily understand and relate to. This is especially true to teenagers which are particularly sensitive to a lot of issues and concepts. You can inspire them to do great things, while keeping them from doing anything that is not ideal by showing them a very visual and powerful message in poster printing.
To make inspirational posters for the youth, there are several things that you should know:
Study their "sub-culture":
The youth will always have their own "sub culture". Each generation has its own slang words, favorite themes, important issues, music idols, TV stars and other aspects of their popular culture. You must understand these things fully before even attempting to design a poster for the youth. This is basically your market research phase. You have to immerse yourself in their world so that you can understand their hopes, fears and aspirations. By knowing these crucial issues and emotions, you can have a framework of the best concepts that you can concentrate on when you do start designing and printing posters.
Play with some universal themes:
Now, if you studied their sub culture, you should be able notice that there are still telltale differences with the youth from different demographics. Ethnicity, Social Class, Religion and Location also play a crucial role in shaping the preconceptions and beliefs of the youth. To effectively create your inspirational poster however, you have to transcend these divisions on the youth and identify crucial universal themes that apply to all of them. In most cases, issues of freedom, hope, love, family, friends, school, and other significant feelings and relationships are what strikes the youth the most. It is good to identify these things early on in your creative process so that you can compose a poster design that appeals to all the young people that will see your poster. Overall, you should make a better impact on them if you use and play with universal and important themes.
Compose an awe inspiring picture:
On the design level itself, the picture is really what separates the good inspirational posters from the great ones. As a general rule however, do not aim for wildly fantastic and abstract designs. For inspirational posters for the youth, it is best to compose a great awe inspiring picture that touches directly on the issue at hand. So take photographs of a touching scene, or obtain nice and inspirational images over the Internet. Pick the image that best represents the issue at hand and ensure that it is in the best quality. You don't need any fancy "Photoshop" techniques or filters. A simple but meaningful image should already paint a thousand words for you.
Pick a memorable line:
Lastly, do not forget to pick a memorable line. For the youth, inspiring words also count as much as inspiring images. You should find a memorable motto or saying that they can cling to and find strength or inspiration upon. It must be something that they can repeatedly retell themselves and of course it must be short enough to easily remember. You should be able to search for nice and inspiring words over the Internet, or if you are a poet yourself, maybe you can compose your own memorable line.
If you combine all the elements above in one inspirational poster, you should be more or less in the green to making a nice and meaningful design for poster printing. Inspiring the youth is a great and noble activity that you should take seriously and responsibly. So always make the best design that you can to lead future generations for something better.
