Basically you apply to Google to be accepted in their program and after you are accepted they will put ads on your site that should be related to the content on your site. Every time someone clicks on those Ads you get paid. Payment could be as low as $.02 a click so in order to generate any kind of decent income you are going to need a lot of clicks. Don't think about clicking on your own ads though because if caught (and they will catch you) you will be suspended from the program never to return.

The other way to make money blogging is by selling products on your blog. The most common practice of selling products is through affiliate marketing. The best thing about affiliate marketing is you do not need your own product. You are selling other people's products and receiving a percentage of the sale.

A lot of traffic will help you to make money by blogging. In order to get traffic your blog needs to be optimized. Once you get people to your blog how do you keep them there. For one thing your blog needs to be interesting. You may be telling them something they have already read somewhere else but you can make it interesting enough that they will stay and read it. Also make sure you grammar is correct. Nothing turns a reader off more than poorly written content.

Another way to keep your visitors on your site and thus make money with your blog is to have a clean theme. Again there is nothing worse than not being able to find things on a site. Remember your visitors can vanish with a simple click.

Another thing that keeps visitors on your site thus helping you to make money with your blog is to have comments on your blog. This is a little harder to obtain since people do not want to be the first. One way is to leave comments on similar blogs with a link and hopefully someone will follow back and leave a comment. It only takes one.
