How to Make Your Website Videos Sell
More websites than ever now feature a video on their home page. Often the video is so important, it takes complete priority over the sales copy.
That is no surprise. Video is incredibly powerful. The vast majority of people worldwide say they would rather learn watching TV than reading a book. So it's no surprise website videos are rapidly becoming KING on the Internet.
Youtube, Vimeo, Photobucket, and many others host your videos for free. They also make your video easy to find on search engines. It's quite possible your Youtube video will be found first, then people will read your Youtube info to discover your website.
It's also quite easy these days to host your video entirely on your own site and server. Many sites prefer to do this to keep full control of their content and look more professional.
Frankly I feel Youtube is a MAJOR revolution, even bigger than Facebook and Twitter. I don't hesitate to host my videos on Youtube.
Here are easy ways to make your videos far more effective.
1. Pay close attention to your voice-over. That's the talking on the video.
Unless you have a Hollywood production with actors, the visual part of your video is going to be fairly simple. Most website videos use slide-show style text and still photos in a Flash video.
Site owners tend to focus on the visual. But they SHOULD be paying attention to the voice-over. That's where the real SELLING is talking place.
The voice-over can be read by you, someone in your business, or by a professional announcer.
2. Keep the sentences in your script SHORT! I can't stress this enough. Long sentences make your announcer run out of breath and breathe in unnatural places. A well written script might read like this:
Here is YOUR opportunity to profit. Our cutting-edge program gives you ALL the tools you need. You get top-notch automation. You get thousands of RED HOT leads. You receive a phenomenal opportunity to earn.
What's missing here? You don't see any commas. Break complex sentences into 2 or 3 shorter sentences.
3. Avoid tongue twisters. The same sound repeated over and over is always going to trip up an announcer. "Around the rugged rocks the ragged rascal ran." At best, it's going to sound labored.
4. Read your script slowly EMPHASIZING key words. This will make your voice-over more powerful. When reading your script to gauge how much time it takes, read out loud in full voice.
5. Instead of the typical Flash slide show, get a Flip video camera and use moving video. Rather than a still photo of a luxury car, go to a dealer and pan your video camera over the hood of the car. This will give your video far more energy.
Don't hesitate to use video all over your site. Many are now using video testimonials of customers. It's especially effective to see a LIVE person talking about your product, service, or opportunity.
We live in the age of video. Now that digital video cameras and online hosting is so cheap, it pays to sell with online video whenever you can.
