Commitment is defined as the trait of sincerity as well as a steadfast fixity of purpose. When one commits to something this implies an unwavering devotion. A person who is committed in marriage is set for life and all the way until death. When one is committed to an objective or a mission there is no other option but to follow it through to completion. So why is it that so many people fail to live up to their personal or professional commitments? Why do we start projects that we eventually quit because of adversity? Why do we give up dreams just because obstacles stand in our way? If a person is so quick to abandon his plan for success because of difficult circumstances then the strength of his commitment has come into question. When you are committed you do not turn around and fall back. When you are committed you do not quit when the going gets tough. You may suffer a setback or two but when that happens you use the downtime to recover and press on towards the completion of the objective. Once you make a decision that you are committed to change you are contractually obligated to complete itspiritually speaking, that is. You make a contract with yourself. How does one make a commitment to his or her commitments? You have to put more heart into your work and your personal goals. It should not be enough to just say you are going to do something. You must first analyze how realistic your expectations are. Once you know that an objective is within your capabilities and skills you must make a promise to yourself that you are going to succeed. Maybe you wont finish the task tomorrow or the next day, but you are going to finish the objective true to your promise. Being committed requires that you remind yourself everyday of your obligation. Do not give yourself options of giving up or postponing tasks. It might help to make notes about this commitment and put it in the office where you can see it on a regular basis. By constantly being reminded of your commitment, you will feel more motivated to keep up the pace. Instead of a note you can use some object that is representative of the mission. Always remember that you must be ready to change the rest of tomorrow today. You cannot reach your full potential by avoiding action. Make a commitment today and start your advancement today not tomorrow! About the Author:
