You need a teacher who can help you to develop a deep underlying approach to the guitar, rather than just teaching you to play a few tunes.

So make sure you take steps to keep your inspiration and motivation topped up, resist the temptation of information overload, and make sure that you work with the right teacher. Provided you follow this advice you will significantly improve your chances of becoming successful as a guitar player.
