How to Naturally Lower Triglycerides - 5 Steps to Do it Right
If for the most part you have been so dependent on medications to treat various health problems, you probably don't think you can easily learn how to naturally lower triglycerides. Triglycerides are, by the way, a form of blood fat that when uncontrolled can be potentially harmful to your health. Elevated triglycerides can cause your blood to clot, decrease your good cholesterol levels and increase your bad cholesterol levels, any one of which can make you at risk for stroke or developing some other kind of heart disease.
When the level of your triglycerides is more than 150 mg/dL, it only makes sense to try a wide range of treatment options to bring the number back to normal. While a lot of people may go for chemically-produced drugs because of their seemingly immediate effects, it wouldn't be wise to close your mind on the possibility of naturally lowering triglyceride levels, especially when you consider the cost of drugs these days and the many untoward drug reactions. Besides, elevated triglycerides is more of a lifestyle problem, anyway, and this means that it may be resolved by making some changes in your lifestyle, so why not make it an option, then?
Having said that, following are some steps on how to naturally lower triglycerides:
Step 1: Get a life - don't be a couch potato. Get your body moving and burn more calories. Apparently it's not enough that you take leisure walks to the park because the idea here is to sweat the calories and the fat out of your system. Why not enroll in a dance class or apply for membership in a gym where you can be free to do aerobic exercises, instead?
Step 2: Eat well. This means scraping off food choices that are loaded with sugar and fat, especially cakes, pastries, fried foods and foods made with preservatives and artificial additives. This also means having more fish and vegetables in the diet. Fish is a rich source of protein and the healthy fat, Omega-3, while vegetables, in particular, broccoli, celery, spinach, and cauliflower, are good sources of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Fiber and Omega-3 help lower triglyceride levels so they are essential in the maintenance of good heart health.
Step 3: Drink water. Water is a natural remedy for everything! This is one thing you should never skimp on. Water hydrates your system, enhancing your body's capability of flushing the toxins and the excess fat out. It's highly recommended that you drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday, unless of course you have a medical condition that requires you to make a restriction.
Step 4: Fish Oil. Supplement this natural approach by taking Fish Oil with Omega-3 supplements and herbs that have been found to regulate triglyceride levels such as chopped raw garlic, psyllium fiber, and green tea.
Step 5: Don't smoke and don't drink. Have a strict no smoking and no drinking policy. Smoking and alcoholic beverages can significantly up the levels of your triglycerides and do not help you in your resolve to lower your triglycerides.
Know how to naturally lower triglycerides and you can be in far better health than you can dream of.
