How to Plan a Bachelor Party
There are no written rules for running a bachelor party. But the way it is usually done is that the best man is in charge of the event for his buddy the groom. So this article is directed mainly at the guys who have been asked to stand as best man at their pal's wedding.
Now is this party about revenge? Did your buddy humiliate or embarrass you when you were about to get married? Well even if he did, why not do the right thing and aim to arrange a terrific night out without the gross behavior often seen at a bachelor party?
The three essential factors for any bachelor party are as follows:
The groom survives and is fit and well for his wedding
Everyone feels a part of the celebration
It's a great night
Now that seems simple enough but unfortunately high-spirited guys and alcohol can result in a tricky situation. So you, as the chief cook and bottle-washer, have to organize a brilliant night and still enjoy the party as well.
Surprises can be wonderful or not so. If you spring a surprise on the groom and he's not happy, you will have done him a disservice. There are some surprises' you should seriously consider beforehand.
If you invite friends of friends or guys who are not all that close to the groom it may backfire. Does the groom want them as part of his celebration? And someone who is not close to the groom is under less restraint about wild behavior. Double-check your invitation list.
One of the best ways to guarantee a great night is to give the main event over to an activity in which everyone is busy. Having a bunch of guys standing around and drinking is not clever or even entertaining. So what's it to be? - golf, go-karts, bowling, paint balling, trivia competition, darts, snooker, cards, etc. You can always take the groom out for a drink once the main events are over.
The issue of wild or mild is often discussed. Does it have to be either of those? It could be enjoyable without being crazy. The best way to decide is to ask the groom. What does he want? After all, it's his night. Certainly don't hold the bachelor party on the night before the wedding and certainly make sure the groom seriously enjoys himself the way he likes to relax.
