A casting call is tantamount to a job interview to the actors. Just the same way you feel goose bumps on the interview day and wobbling of knees upon being called to face the interviewing panel; actors do also have the same experience. These emotions are normal but they can be devastating to your career if you do not take control of them as you are supposed to. Remember there are hundreds of prospective candidates who will come looking for job at the end of the interview and hence it is important to ensure that the moment you are giving the chance to present what you got you make a show of your life. The first impression is a lasting impression hence you have to make an act that will convince the auditioning crew you are the best. Casting calls are nerve racking, but at the same time the directors are looking for a candidate who has what it takes to knock their socks off! The following are some tips for preparing for US casting call.

The first step is to find out as much as you can about the role you will be auditioning for. Look for the script and go through all the instruction provided. Understand what the US casting call requires. The casting call may require you to represent a show based on the script you have been given while others may require you to be prepared by a side show or monologue from elsewhere. In case you are required to present a side show, look for a monologue that will suit the genre of the role you will be bidding for. If you do your homework accurately, you will be able to prepare adequately and effectively.

The night prior to the casting call, ensure to decide on appropriate dressing code. If you will be acting as a doctor, you can look for scrubs that will insinuate your career. If you are playing the role of a bartender, you should look for informal dressing code than you would expect a librarian to be dressed. It is not must you dress in the outfit of the character you will be acting at the audition; but this can give you bonus points from the auditioning crew.

Prepare the bag you will be carrying to the audition early so that you can pack everything you will need. Have several photographs, your resume and casting materials you may have been given. You should also have a pen and a paper so that you can take note of all the people who will be auditioning you so that you can thank them later. You can also have duplicates of your resume since you cannot be sure of how many directors will ask for your resume at the casting call.

The night before attending US casting call, take adequate rest. Go to bed early. This will help you to look your best. Your mind will also be ready to tackle all the challenging tasks the directors may ask of you. This looks like common sense but many people take it for granted such that they get at the auditioning unstable.
