Think About Where You Park

Some people like to park their Kia as far away from the building as possible, because they think it will receive the least amount of damage from grocery carts or other car doors opening into their car. Some park further away in order to take advantage of the longer walk for exercise and health purposes. Whatever the reason, you should know the further away from a building you park, the more of a target your Kia becomes to car thieves.

At night, you'll also want to park in well-lit parking spots. Never choose dark areas, as a thief will target a car that's more hidden than one that's in plain view and under a street light.

Don't Tempt Thieves

Have you ever left cash lying around your car in plain view? Your CDs or MP3 player on the seat? When you leave valuable items in view of people walking by your car, you're inviting thieves to break in and steal them. Car locks and alarm systems are not always enough protection from an experienced thief. Keep your valuables locked in your trunk or at home, out of view of passer-by thieves.

Remember to Take Your Keys Out

Reports estimate that about one out of every six car thefts are the result of the driver leaving their keys in the car. Don't make it easy for a thief to get in and drive your car away, take your keys with you.
